| What’s smug and deserves to be decapitated?
Having walked to work in the city for the last 5 years, I've been hit once and nearly taken out half a dozen times - and they usually have the cheek to harangue me, the pedestrian. I have never been badly hurt. This is fortunate as they are the only vehicles on the road that don't require third party insurance. This means that if one does injure a pedestrian or cause an accident with other vehicles, the injured party has no come-back whatsoever. I believe that this should change. Cycles used on city streets should be registered, taxed and insured. I for one would report the the red-light jumpers if I could. .
Teen Charged in Tenn. School Shooting
A feud between two high school students that began off campus culminated at a gym class Monday when one student shot the other twice, then handed the gun to a coach, saying, "It's over now," authorities said. The victim, a 19-year-old senior, was in critical condition at a hospital, authorities said. The suspected shooter, 17-year-old sophomore Corneilous Cheers, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment and carrying a gun on school property, said police spokeswoman Monique Martin. The teenagers got into a confrontation off campus over the weekend or last week, police said. Investigators were trying to determine whether it was related to gang activity, Martin said. A detention hearing was scheduled for Tuesday in juvenile court for Cheers, who did not yet have a lawyer.

Man who raped stepdaughter to stand trial in High Court
A 42-YEAR-OLD Singaporean man accused of tying up his stepdaughter and sexually assaulting her was ordered on Tuesday to stand trial in the High Court. The man, a hawker assistant, faces one charge of rape and another of wrongfully restraining his stepdaughter to molest her. He also faces two counts of drug abuse. The man was committed to stand trial on the four charges after a preliminary inquiry on Tuesday. He cannot be named to protect the identity of his stepdaughter, a Chinese national who was 20 at the time of the alleged offences last June. The prosecution has alleged the man raped his stepdaughter at their home, an HDB flat, at about 7pm on June 27. He allegedly molested her after tying her hands behind her back and binding her ankles together.
Co-defendant's sentence gives hope to Corrales' kin
But he has warned Shore not to talk with them unless he is at his side, and he said his client would invoke the Fifth Amendment to protect against facing new charges. "They could offer him clemency, but I don't know how much clemency they can give him," Waddington said. "If they came to him and said, 'We will wipe out his federal conviction,' he's still going to say what he remembers. I don't honestly see any kind of clemency. I don't see anything like that coming down." Corrales' civilian lawyer, Frank Spinner, said the division's commander could grant clemency to Shore if he agrees to be a prosecution witness. Spinner, a St. Mary's University School of Law graduate, didn't know whether Waddington and his client would accept a plea deal but said he would focus on the premeditated murder charge, explaining, "If I take care of that, I think the others will take care of themselves." Shore told an investigative hearing last fall that Corrales shot the prisoner after ordering his troops to kill all the military-age males they encountered during a raid in Shaheed, near Kirkuk.
He did laps at 110 km/h to prove turban held tight
BRAMPTON, Ont. A devout Sikh all his life, Baljinder Badesha never imagined that his religious devotion would compel him to race a motorcycle around an Ontario speedway to test whether turbans unravel at high speeds. The bizarre image of Mr. Badesha's experiment last year - conducted under the auspices of the Ontario Human Rights Commission - was evoked during a constitutional challenge to a law that forces motorcycle riders to wear a helmet. .
Activist pulls wool over eyes of nation
Global Climate Change", like we are experiencing now, happens every 15,000 years or so. Man certainly has nothing to do with it. It will happen no matter how rich Al Gore gets from selling bogus "carbon credits". We don't cause climate change and we can't "fix" it. Wake up! You are being sold a bill of goods by one of the biggest hucksters in modern history, Al Gore. One of the most obvious examples of this is Iceland and Greenland. When they were originally named, Iceland was covered in ice and Greenland was farmland! Now Iceland is green and Greenland is covered in ice. Did "man" do that? No! And "man" is not melting the glaciers either. It's a NATURALLY OCCURING PHENOMENON. Get used to it and stop making the Environazis rich off your hysteria!! " .

Advantage belongs to Lakers
Their 38-17 record is tied for the best mark in the Western Conference with the Phoenix Suns, the team the Lakers beat last Wednesday to win the season series, 3-1. The Clippers have dropped to 19-34, the fourth-worst record in the West. The Lakers got 23 points, five rebounds and six assists from Pau Gasol and another double-double from Lamar Odom, who had 20 points and 10 rebounds. They got 17 points from Sasha Vujacic and 14 from Jordan Farmar, both of whom came off the bench. "It was fortunately for me that Pau and the guys really just played extremely well so I could coast a little bit," Bryant said. "I pulled my rib a little bit there in the first quarter, but it helps when the rest of the team is picking up the slack so I can have a night like tonight." The Lakers tied their season high with their seventh straight win, the longest streak since the Lakers won 11 in a row in 2004.
