| The Two Man Gentlemen Heavy Petting
(PR) The Two Man Gentlemen Band will release their third album, 'Heavy Petting,' just in time for Valentine's Day. Comprising two finely dressed young men, Andy Bean on banjo and The Councilman on bass, this NYC duo plays high-energy tunes in a hot jazz, Tin Pan Alley, vaudevillian swing style. 'Heavy Petting' is an album about love. But this isn't your typical record of ballads and gentle lyrics. The Gentlemen expertly relate love to topics like The Depression, Prohibition, even their favorite sport, badminton. Sings Andy Bean on the toe-tapping "They Can't Prohibit Love," "That firewater in the moonshine dug a hole right through my liver/ But your lovin' makes every single one of my organs quiver." You will come across a few naughty innuendos, but never fear, The Gentlemen utter nary an indecent word.
Costs in Chinese factories rising, cheaper markets eyed
The higher costs mean Western consumers are bound to face steeper prices for iPods, TVs, tank tops and many other imported products made by small Chinese subcontractors. "Americans continue to want to buy at lower prices," said Kevin Burke, president and CEO of the American Apparel and Footwear Association. "They are used to going to the store during Christmas and getting something cheaper than a year ago." That's no longer a sure thing. For instance, American toy makers, who rely heavily on Chinese factories, expect prices to increase 5 to 10 percent for the 2008 holiday season, largely because of rising manufacturing costs. Costs in China are climbing nationwide, but the greatest pain is being felt in the south, where about 14,000 Hong Kong-run factories could close in the next few months, said Polly Ko of the Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong, which neighbors Hong Kong.

This data-rich, value-driven information will guide us in targeting future infrastructure investments for maximum efficiency and return on investment. I expect that the initial phases of this strategy can be developed within just a few months, so that we may begin to use the findings and adjust policy accordingly. Financial assistance from the State Transportation Infrastructure Bank is proposed to address the need for local airport facilities that typically are not freight carriers. I will recommend to the board of the OneGeorgia Authority that $15 million of funds be transferred to capitalize the STIB, and these funds would only be allowed for use in assisting airports throughout the State in accordance with the rules of the OneGeorgia Authority. Statewide and Regional Transportation Funding Georgia is among the top three states in the country for population growth, trailing only Texas and California.

Don't root for the bad guy, because although he may have several spacious New York City apartments, a closet full of natty suits, and a beauty-queen wife (and treat his momma right), he's still a cold-blooded killer. Ridley Scott's American Gangster based on a New York magazine article profiling Frank Lucas, a real-life drug kingpin in 1960s and '70s Harlem makes sure we understand that Lucas (Denzel Washington) is responsible for unleashing deadly, near-pure heroin (imported directly from Southeast Asian sources at the height of the Vietnam War) onto American streets. Paralleling Lucas's rise to power, with far less glamour, is the story of cop Richie Roberts (Russell Crowe), who's also a lawyer (thanks to night school) and a man of unimpeachable character to his detriment, as it turns out, since every other officer on the force is totally dirty and won't work with him.

Harper to draw the line on Afghanistan
The election, of course, won't be fought over Afghanistan. That is Harper's wish because he knows that the government has shown such incompetence in governing over the past few months that his hawkish stand on Afghanistan maybe the only thing that parts of the population may see as positive. However, it also carries downsides. The handling of the mission by the Harper government has been as loaded with lies as any other part of their agenda and the opposition parties could argue that Harper can't be trusted to be handed a majority and be given a blank cheque on this or any other part of their agenda. It also presents an interesting conundrum. If Harper goes to the electorate with Afghanistan and wins a minority (polls show a Liberal minority right now but let's give him the benefit of the doubt on this), he either has to change his policy on Afghanistan or the Governor-General has to ask the LPC to form the government even if they have less seats.
